"They're just things" - spoken with reference to the possesions destroyed in the storm. Meaning that what is most important is the safety of the people, the family.
3. SET UP (1-10)
There is a storm, David and his son and their neighbour go to town and enter themarket where there are lots of townspeople. There is a mention of 'Arrowhead'.
4. CATLAYST (12)
In the twelfth minute of the film a siren starts and an old man comes running shouting about something in the mist.
5. DEBATE (12-25)
Is there something in the mist? What is it? Are they safe?
6. BREAK INTO TWO (25)
Minute 27 - The tentacle attacks and kills the bag boy. There are monsters in the mist.
7. B STORY (30)
Disent is growing. Brent and Dave argue.
8. FUN AND GAMES (30-55)
There are arguments within the group as the heroes try to persuade them of the danger, they barricade the windows, there is a dangerous religious fanatic amongst them. The escape attempt fails and people die.
9. MIDPOINT (55)
They really are trapped - no way out and madness increasing. Things are bad.
10. BAD GUYS CLOSE IN (55-75)
Things get much worse (proving the defeat at the midpoint to be false). NIght falls, the giant bugs atack, flying lizard things break the glass and more people die.
11. ALL IS LOST (75)
The market is not safe anymore, there are people dead and dying while others are slowly going mad.
12. DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL (75-85)
The rescue attempt fails and the remaining heroes go back to the market where conditions are growing even worse.
13. BREAK INTO THREE (85)
The heroes leave the market. They are attacked but make it to the car.
14. FINALE (85-110)
The group drive around looking for safety but finding everything destroyed and impossible creatures roaming the land. They run out of petrol...
15. FINAL IMAGE (110)
Tanks and forest, fire and soldiers.
VERDICT
The opening and final image don't seem to match.
There is a slightly unusual 3rd act break.
The All is lost point and the midway point are both downers. In fact, all the plot points are downers really. There is never really anything more positive than a brief respite from the horror.
It does seem to stick pretty closely to the beat sheet however.
