THE SURGEON GENERAL

AKA:
Aaron Sims, Kurt Carley

Was a bastard in:
Skinned Deep (2004)

So Who the Hell is he?

The first time we see the Surgeon General he is hanging off the back of a speeding truck and doing a very good impression of Leatherface in the second Texas Chainsaw Massacre film as he murders a passing
motorist. As the film progresses we get to see that the Leatherface similarities certainly do not end there. He fills exactly the same role as the curly haired power tool loving one in nearly every way. He is the chief 'enforcer' of a peculiar family of murderers. While Leatherface's family may have been odd however this lot are just plain whacked.

surgeon general

There is a psychotic midget with a deep love for plates called umm...'Plates', there is the obligatory sweet old lady who is actually a total psycho nut-job and then there is 'Brain' a bloke with a ridiculously mal-proportioned brain.

The Surgeon General is the muscle here though and the only one that has benefitted from more than about ten minutes in production design. He certainly looks the part in his all black leather and trenchcoat combination. Of course his most distinctive feature is the bear trap he has instead of jaws and the mummified look his skin has.

That’s not a knife…

The Surgeon General, like his inspiration characte, is a singularly violent individual and as such is just as keen using lots of different weapons. He uses a big wicked knife thing, a grappling hook and his metal jaws all with equal aplomb. He's also not averse to getting stuck into abit of good old fashioned drowning. Versatility see? It's important when you're a trap-jawed mutant living in a back-water American wasteland.

Why, for the love of God, Why??!!?

Who knows? Some attempt is made at establishing that the freaks in Skinnned Deep do what they do to survive themselves. Though why this is so is never explained and it all descends into some nonsense involving green slime, headless body-builders with dynamite in their jock-straps and really old Hell's Angels. Really - don't ask.

So what’s the damage?

There are some very memorable moments of murder perpetrated by the General including the little CND emblems that he manages to rig with enough explosives to blow whatever part of the body they are attached to into a bloody spray of gristle. The true standout kill though has to be when he slices a boy in two with one swift slice of his knife. That's lengthways by the way.

It’s a million to one chance but it might just work…

Being at least partially robotic means that he is exceptionally strong (aren't they all?) but still not strong enough to survive a load of lighted dynamite being stuck down his trousers.

Words of wisdom:

The customary killer's silence again here.
