A Nightmare on elm street

Pictures have started showing up on the internet from the new Michael Bay produced Elm Street shoot. Though it is difficult (if not downright impossible) to imagine Freddy without the wonderful Robert Englund behind the familiar pizza face make-up, we think that Jackie Earle Hayley, who did such a fine job of bringing Rorschach snarling to the screen in Watchmen, will certainly give it a good shot.

These pictures taken from the JoBlo website suggest that more focus will be given to who Freddy was before he became the scarred dream demon we all know and love.

This picture shows a pre-fire Freddy up to no good in a children’s playground. Notice the slight change in colours and style for his shirt and the good old white picket fence motif that became so familiar in the original series.

Though we here at Nefarious Films aren’t massively enthusiastic about seeing yet another re-boot, remake or re-imagining of another classic horror franchise we have to admit, we’re getting interested. Especially at the rumours that Freddy’s make up will be different and very much closer to how a burned alive human would really look. Hmmm…
